MEET PAUL HERRERA
"He has served in many leadership roles throughout his Military and Law Enforcement career."
Paul Herrera has been married to Liz for over 24 years and is father of two children. Their family has lived in Puyallup since 1997.
He has served in many leadership roles throughout his Military and Law Enforcement career.
As a law enforcement officer, Paul has shown his dedication to public safety working in a variety of positions including a gang task force, proactive patrol, undercover narcotics detective, SWAT team leader, swift water rescue technician/boat operator and night shift supervisor. He also served as Director of Fish & Wildlife Enforcement for the Puyallup Tribe.
Paul’s military career spanned over 20 years with combat deployment to Iraq. As a drill instructor, he was passionate in training young men and women for their duties.
Our Veteran’s community has recognized Paul with the highest awards for his continual commitment and service to our Veterans, including the All American and All State Commander for the VFW two years in a row and 2016 “Veteran of the year” for Washington State.
He serves on many Veteran’s Boards and volunteers with Little league baseball.
My life experience, from a military career to serving today in law enforcement on the streets of our local community, gives me an edge like no other in truly understanding what is required to provide solutions to the issues we all deal with.
Business owners, residents, families with children and retired citizens, ALL deserve to have safe streets and neighborhoods. I will work creatively to craft solutions to help reduce the homelessness that has been ever growing over the past few years. Our programs need to be compassionate, fiscally responsible and accountable.
Citizens work hard for their money. I want to be sure it is spent wisely and with purpose. Let’s provide proper maintenance of the aging infrastructure we use and at the same time plan smartly for the future as our population expands.
Puyallup can be the City everyone thinks of when it comes to new small business growth. We need to support and assist with the creation of a new welcoming business environment that will bring additional local family wage jobs to our community.
My passion has always been to serve others and our country. My heart says it is time to serve you, the citizens of Puyallup, with fresh innovative ideas, hard work and leadership on the Puyallup City Council.
